301st Security Forces Squadron Hosts Top Air Force Defender

FORT WORTH , TEXAS, UNITED STATES

    301st Fighter Wing

NAVAL AIR STATION JOINT RESERVE BASE FORT WORTH, Texas – The 301st Security Forces Squadron recently welcomed Maj. Gen. Brian A. Filler, the Air Force’s Director of Security Forces, and Chief Master Sgt. Donnie Gallagher, the Security Forces Career Field Manager, visited the squadron to get a firsthand look at its transformation into a "Deployed Combat Wing."

During their Aug. 21 visit, Filler and Gallagher met with squadron leadership and talked directly with Defenders to understand the pulse of the force as the 301st Fighter Wing undergoes a metamorphosis to a new mission. This conversion, which officially began in October 2023, shifts the focus toward organic force protection assets that can support a hit-and-move offensive and defensive posture in future peer-to-peer conflicts.

Maj. Ashlee Adame, commander of the 301st SFS, said the visit was a unique opportunity to showcase the squadron’s three-part mission: force protection, pre-deployment readiness training and its Operating Location-Alpha, which supports more than 40,000 Defenders at Fort Bliss, Texas.

“Their time devoted to understanding the three-prong mission of the 301st SFS and candid engagement with my command team, as well as their acknowledgment of the importance of the collective Defender presence at NAS JRB, the first stand-alone Air Force Reserve F-35 aircraft wing, reinforces the criticality of Air Force Security Forces among a changing security landscape,” Adame said.

The squadron, despite facing manpower and facility limitations, is dedicated to its new mission. Chief Master Sgt. Lance Paulauskas, the squadron’s senior enlisted leader, highlighted how the general and chief's visit energized the team.

“It was important to them during their visit to talk to Defenders to get the heartbeat of the force,” Paulauskas said. “Their visit also highlighted the important fact that readiness isn’t a box we check—it’s a standard that we raise every day. If we’re not training to be better tomorrow, we’re already falling behind.”

The 301st FW is the first Reserve wing to receive the F-35 aircraft and serve this new mission, which Paulauskas said sets a new standard for others to follow.

“Our posture is not just for us—it’s the model our allies and partners will follow,” Paulauskas said. “As such, we must get it right. Excellence in training today is the shield that protects tomorrow’s mission, which falls in line with our motto of, 'Defenders—Anytime, Anywhere!'"

The 301st Fighter Wing, based at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas, mission is to train and deploy combat-ready Airmen. The wings vision is to be the leading provider of agile airpower and innovative empowered Airmen…Anytime, anywhere!
