The 919th Special Operations Wing held an assumption of responsibility ceremony September 6, 2025, ushering in a new era a new command chief.
Chief Master Sgt. Marcia Evans is the newly minted 919 SOW command chief and completes her rise as the senior enlisted member of the wing, a journey that began as a senior airman in the 919th Maintenance Operations Flight in August 2003.
As command chief, Evans serves as the senior enlisted advisor to the wing commander, representing the interests of more than 1,700 Citizen Air Commandos. She will provide guidance on morale, welfare, readiness, and professional development for enlisted personnel across the wing.
“What sets her apart is how she engages with others, mentors, teaches, and holds others to the highest standards,” said Col. Scott Hurrelbrink, 919th Special Operations Wing commander. “Her knowledge, calm demeanor, leadership experience, and problem-solving approach is why she was the one and only choice to be this wing’s next command chief.”
The Assumption of Responsibility ceremony is a long-standing military tradition that symbolizes the formal transfer of duties and trust to the incoming leader. During the event, Hurrelbrink presented the ceremonial colors to Evans, signifying her official acceptance of the role.
“To the wing, I want to start by saying I don’t have all the answers, but what I do have is a deep respect for our Airmen, their families, and civilians who dedicate themselves to defending this nation,” said Evans. “We will continue to excel at our current missions while embracing new mission sets. The 919th Special Operations Wing will continue to answer the call with a resounding, ‘Call me, I’m ready.”
With over 26 years of service, Evans brings extensive experience and a commitment to strengthening Airmen through readiness, resilience, and leadership development.
The 919 SOW is the only Air Force Reserve wing dedicated to special operations, providing highly trained Airmen capable of deploying worldwide. With Evans as command chief, the wing continues to uphold its legacy of excellence and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.
