SEMBACH, Germany -- U.S. Army NATO bid farewell to the outgoing company commander, Capt. Alexander J. Wyatt, and welcomed Capt. Roget P. Mohammed during a change of command ceremony Sept. 12 at Sembach Kaserne.
The ceremony was hosted by Lt. Col. Ernest D. Meadows, U.S. Army NATO Brigade deputy commanding officer, who passed the unit colors during the ceremony representing the transfer of authority and responsibility for the unit from one commander to another.
“Capt. Wyatt, I thank you for leading the Soldiers of HHC,” said Meadows. “Thanks for the efforts to improve the alliance and for your commitment not only to the Soldiers of HHC, but to the Soldiers assigned to NATO AIRCOM in Ramstein, the NATO Military Engineer Center of Excellence in Ingolstadt and the Joint Support and Enabling Command in Ulm, whom all benefited from your engaged leadership.
“To Capt. Mohammad, today you are assuming the incredible responsibility of command. You have done all the right things necessary to prepare yourself for this day, and I have the utmost faith and confidence in your abilities.
“I charge you to lead these Soldiers with dignity and respect and set the example in all you do," said Meadows.
After completing a successful command, Wyatt will go on to serve with U.S. Army NATO working in G3 as an operations officer.
“Every commander has a commander who provides the most mentorship. Col. (Jeremiah D.) Pope, thank you for your trust in me over this past year leading your Headquarters Company,” said Wyatt. “Sir, your mentorship, leadership, and guidance throughout my time in command has meant a great deal to me personally, and you ultimately ensured my success during my time here. It has been an honor to serve under your command in NATO brigade.
“Capt. Mohammed, best of luck as you take charge of this stellar, but unique organization.
“These Soldiers will give you their best every single day, and I know from our gym workouts that you'll always give them yours.
“I have full confidence that you will take this team to even greater heights and that you are the best man for this job.
“Continue to be personable, and brilliant, and this organization will only succeed,” said Wyatt.
Mohammed comes to HHC from the command group where he served as the U.S. Army NATO Secretary to the General Staff.
“I want to begin by thanking Captain Wyatt for his exceptional leadership and the strong foundation he has built,” said Mohammed. “I've had the pleasure of serving in this unit for the past year and have seen firsthand the outstanding dedication of this team.
“Capt. Wyatt, your commitment to excellence has left a lasting impact, and I will do my best to build upon your legacy.
“I would also like to especially thank Col. Pope for trusting me with this opportunity.
“To the Soldiers and civilians of HHC, I am humbled to serve alongside each and every one of you. The professionalism and pride you take in your work is second to none.
“This company has a rich history of rising to every challenge, and I am excited to help us build on that legacy. As we move forward, I want to emphasize one thing : I am here to serve you. My mission is to lead with integrity and fairness, to create an environment where you can excel, and to ensure you have what you need to grow personally and professionally.
“I know that we can accomplish anything together. There will be trials, but I am confident that as a team, we will face every obstacle and add to our list of achievements.
"Challenge accepted!"
