A group of 18 Soldiers from the Puerto Rico National Guard (PRNG) recently arrived at Ilopango, El Salvador, to support the Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH) during the multinational exercise “Fuerzas Comando 2025.” The event, which brings together special operations teams from 16 nations across the Americas, marks the 19th iteration of this elite competition, held from August 18 to 29, 2025.

“The Puerto Rico National Guard has proudly supported Special Operations Command South and the Fuerzas Comando competition for many years,” said the Adjutant General of Puerto Rico, Carlos J. Rivera Román. “This event showcases the skill, endurance, and professionalism of special operations forces across the Americas, and we are honored to contribute through our logistical expertise and public affairs support.”

Rivera also said that the Puerto Rico National Guard, “as a uniquely bilingual and culturally adaptable force, is well positioned to strengthen communication, coordination, and partnership with our regional allies, ensuring the continued success of this important mission.”

The PRNG soldiers are providing key support in logistics, operations, public affairs, and medical assistance, demonstrating their technical expertise and commitment to international missions. Beyond their military roles, the PRNG members contribute to building stronger partnerships through their leadership, discipline, and teamwork.

Established in 2004, “Fuerzas Comando” has become a premier platform to test the skills of special operations forces, strengthen interoperability among partner nations, and enhance relationships in the region.

With participation from Argentina, Belize, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and the United States, “Fuerzas Comando 2025” stands as a cornerstone event for regional military unity and highlights Puerto Rico’s essential role in strengthening security cooperation throughout the Americas.
