MCALESTER, Okla. — Stormi Travis, a management and program analyst for the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, has been named the Joint Munition Command’s Employee of the Quarter for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025.

Through the EOQ program, JMC celebrates the efforts of civilian and military team members who play a vital role in furthering the command’s mission. The program also aims to foster a high-performance culture, enhancing workplace morale and contributing to objectives such as employee sustainment and engagement.

Travis, who has spent 11 years in civilian service, feels grateful for the opportunity to contribute to crucial projects that impact MCAAP’s mission. With the support of her leadership, peers, and family, Travis takes pride in setting an example for her son by demonstrating what it means to work hard, think outside the box, and stay true to one’s purpose.

“Initially, I pursued a civilian career with the Army because I needed stable employment and reliable insurance benefits for both me and my son,” she said. “However, as I became more familiar with the mission and values of the organization, I developed a deep appreciation for the sense of purpose, structure, and opportunity it offers.”

Travis’ expertise in data collection and analytics has enhanced MCAAP’s ability to monitor equipment downtime, resulting in more efficient processes for both the Ammunition Operations directorate and MCAAP as a whole. She utilizes Business Intelligence software to analyze data and create visual tools, such as graphs and charts, to effectively track trends. Independently mastering Power BI, she led the development, design, and implementation of its use within the Operations Maintenance directorate.

“What I love most about my job is the challenge it presents,” Travis said. “I’m not afraid to break the mold if it means finding a better way or pushing past outdated processes. Every day brings something different, and that constant growth keeps me motivated.”

Robert Lungstrum, the supervisory general engineer, is appreciative of the work Travis does for MCAAP, whose mission is to produce, receive, store, ship, renovate, and demilitarize conventional ammunition.

“Stormi is an excellent team player and absolutely excels in her ability to effectively communicate, coordinate, and foster collaboration between teammates,” Lungstrum said. “Whether it is working with her teammates in OM or coordinating with other directorates, she always displays top-notch professionalism.

“Stormi’s efforts are a reflection of her selfless service and dedication to the overall mission,” added Lungstrum. “Her devotion to duty and professionalism bring great credit upon herself, the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, the U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command, the U.S. Army Materiel Command, and the Department of the Army.”

Travis, who graduated from Savanna High School in 2005 and completed most of her studies at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, has several generations of MCAAP employees in her family.

“Supporting the mission in a civilian role is something we take great pride in,” Travis said.

As a typical sports mom, much of her time is dedicated to supporting her son and managing his busy schedule. Despite this, Travis has recently discovered a new passion for flower gardening, which has brought a refreshing balance to her life. She is eager to nurture this hobby and hopes it will open new opportunities for growth and creativity in the future.
