FORT CARSON, Colo. – The 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) held its annual Critical Technologies & Targeting Summit (CTTS), a focused event that brings together military operators and select defense industry partners to explore and evaluate innovative equipment designed for modern special operations in Fort Carson, Colorado from Aug. 4 to Aug. 7, 2025.
The event kicked off with briefings from CW5 Jerimiah Brown, the Group’s Commanding Chief Warrant, and Group's S8 noncommissioned officer in charge , outlining challenges and needs based on recent and ongoing missions. These insights provided context for the vendors who showcased advanced gear ranging from communications systems and new technologies to mobility tools and battlefield support equipment.
“You’re establishing who's ‘next’ to help us look and seek out the next corner and help us fight our next war,” Brown said. “I guarantee the capabilities you are developing are the solutions to problems that somebody once dreamed up in a team room.”
Throughout the day, the vendors conducted live demonstrations and static displays, allowing soldiers and command staff to see and test new tactical capabilities in action.
“I’m sure the conversations you’re gonna have here are gonna give you some ideas for things you probably haven’t thought of,” Brown said. “ I think we’ll solve some of our issues. It’s just gonna make us better.”
This year’s event featured innovations in areas such as targeting systems, secure communications, rapid deployment kits, drone integration, and next-gen mobility platforms.
“Let’s innovate and capture the problem; let’s do the hard thing of putting it on paper and get it into the proper channels so we recognize that the gap is persistent,” the S8 NCOIC said. “Everybody gets a little bit more lethal, a little bit faster, a little bit lighter each time a new set of service members comes in and new equipment is fielded.”
By the end of the summit, both Soldiers and developers walked away with a better understanding of what is needed to complete future missions.
“And that’s what we want to do today, to expose more Soldiers to more representation, to let them know what technology exists,” Brown said. “So we can form our required documents, and we’re not starting from the ground with the white paper and building a whole new product when it already exists.”
