FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa.— Soldiers with the Pennsylvania National Guard's 213th Regional Support Group pushed their physical and mental limits as they completed the confidence course here, July 22, 2025.

The event brought together Guardsmen from across the state, preparing for Air Assault School or upcoming deployments, for an intense day of training. It was designed to enhance combat readiness, leadership and physical fitness,

The confidence course is a physically demanding series of obstacles that tests agility, coordination, strength and mental resilience. Soldiers navigated high walls, rope climbs and balance beams under the supervision of trained cadre and safety personnel. The course emphasizes the importance of teamwork and trust, requiring participants to rely on their peers for encouragement and assistance.

“This course allows you to overcome your fears,” said Staff Sgt Alexandra Lauch, assigned to the 121st Transportation Company, 228th Motor Transport Battalion. "It's interesting to see what your body can do and overcome."

Lauch was one of 40 Soldiers completing the course who are also preparing for Air Assault School later this summer.

Shared struggle builds unity and the confidence course delivers that experience. Soldiers motivate and assist one another, turning obstacles into opportunities for connection. These moments help develop morale and communication across the team.

“The last time I completed this course was in basic training,” said Pvt. Fatmata Kaikai, a brand new Soldier with the 1067th Transportation Company, 228th MTB, also preparing for Air Assault School. "My goal today is to learn how to climb a rope and complete every obstacle to the best of my ability."

The confidence course is a key component of training that reinforces physical preparedness and combat effectiveness. For the Soldiers of the Pennsylvania National Guard, the confidence course was a reminder that trust, teamwork and tenacity remain at the heart of their mission.
