Five Iraqi civilians were killed and 30 were wounded in a suicide-bomber attack in Tal Afar, Iraq, today, military officials reported.
The Iraqis were filing for compensation at a Civil Military Operations Center. The wounded were evacuated to local civilian and military hospitals for treatment.
Elsewhere, Iraqi and coalition forces detained a car at an internal checkpoint in Baghdad's International Zone Sept. 27.
Indications at the time were that the car contained explosives. Precautionary measures were taken to neutralize the potential car-bomb threat, and explosive ordnance experts destroyed the car using a small explosive charge.
Post-blast analysis determined that the car was not a car bomb, military officials in Baghdad said.
