Coalition teams continue to hunt down Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters in Eastern Afghanistan, officials said Nov. 21.

Teams raided several compounds in the Jalalabad area that "had clear connections to al Qaeda," officials with Combined Forces Command Afghanistan said.

Four al Qaeda terrorists were killed and "several others" detained in the operation, U.S. military officials in Afghanistan said. Officials said Arab fighters were among those killed or captured. Local inhabitants provided the information needed to raid the compounds, officials said.

In other news, a coalition soldier was wounded in an improvised explosive device attack in Nangahar province today. The injuries were not serious, and the soldier returned to duty. Following the attack, anti-coalition forces opened fire and the soldiers' patrol returned fire, killing one and capturing three.
