Two U.S. Army UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters crashed at about 6:30 p.m local time today in West Mosul, Iraq, officials announced.
Early news reports say 12 people were killed and nine others were injured. Officials said that an investigation is under way.
The helicopters were assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). Soldiers from the 101st, along with Iraqi police and firefighters, were securing the crash site, CENTCOM reported.
