Four American servicemembers have been killed in action in Iraq since March 30, military officials in Baghdad reported.
A 2nd Force Service Support Group Marine was killed in action today while conducting a combat logistics patrol en route to Qaim. His vehicle struck a mine.
A Task Force Liberty soldier was killed in action near Hawijah today. No other information is available.
A soldier was killed in a small-arms attack during a March 30 patrol in east Baghdad. Soldiers determined a local Iraqi fired the fatal shots. The patrol surrounded and searched a house in the vicinity and detained five suspected terrorists for questioning.
Also on March 30, a Task Force Freedom soldier was killed, and five others were injured after insurgents opened fire on coalition forces at a checkpoint in Mosul.
The names of all will be withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Terrorists fired on a Task Force Liberty patrol near Duluiyah, March 30. The patrol returned fire, and the attackers fled. The patrol detained six men.
An Air Force MQ-1 Predator unmanned aerial vehicle crashed in Rawah on March 30. The crash is under investigation.
