    Nine Soldiers, Marine Die in Iraq During Recent Operations

    Nine U.S. soldiers and a Marine have died in Iraq in recent days, military officials reported.

    Their names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

    -- Two Multinational Corps Iraq soldiers and a Multinational Division Baghdad soldier died today during combat operations, officials report. One of the MNC-I soldiers died when a roadside bomb exploded next to his vehicle in Fuhaylat, while the other died from injuries suffered earlier in the day when a vehicle bomb detonated near his patrol in Kirkuk. The soldier assigned to MNF-W died while conducting combat operations in Anbar Province.

    -- Two Multinational Division Baghdad soldiers died and two others were wounded when a roadside bomb detonated near their unit during a security patrol southwest of the Iraqi capital March 31, military officials said.

    -- Four soldiers were killed yesterday when a roadside bomb detonated near a separate unit responding to the March 31 IED strike southwest of the Iraqi capital, officials report.

    -- A Marine assigned to Multinational Force West died yesterday in a non-combat related incident in Anbar province. The incident is under investigation.

    The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.
