President Clinton intends to appoint Frederick Pang, assistant defense secretary for force management policy, to the National Partnership Council, the White House press office announced. The appointment, an added duty, will not affect Pangs current position.
The council, created by executive order in October 1993, advises the president on labormanagement relations in the executive branch. It also promotes partnerships between labor and management designed to provide highquality service to the public.
Pang brings years of personnel management experience to the council. Currently, he oversees military and civilian manpower and personnel issues for DoD. These issues include recruiting, family support, education, transition assistance and equal opportunity. He has also served as the Navys assistant secretary for manpower and reserve affairs.
Before joining the Clinton administration, Pang served as a professional staff member on the Manpower and Personnel Subcommittee of Senate Armed Services Committee. He is a retired Air Force officer with numerous personnel and management assignments in his 27year military career.
