NATO stabilization forces detained a former prison camp commander June 15.
Milorad Krnojelac had been indicted for war crimes by the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia. He is accused of beatings, murder, willful killing, willfully causing serious injury, cruel treatment and inhumane acts toward prisoners in the KP Dom prison camp from April 1992 until October 1994.
"This action by SFOR serves as yet another warning to all those indicted for war crimes who are still at large that they, too, will be brought to justice," NATO Secretary-General Javier Solana stated in a press release. Solana called on all indicted war criminals to surrender immediately and asked all parties to the peace agreement to comply with their commitment to transfer indicted to the tribunal.
Solana praised the SFOR troops and commanders involved for their courage, professionalism and dedication in carrying out this action, which contributes to continued consolidation of peace in Bosnia.
