Officials at the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee released the names of units marching during the inauguration of President Bill Clinton here Jan. 20.
Military units in the 1997 Inaugural Parade include active duty and reserve component units representing the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard academies will also join in the inauguration celebration.
Military marching units participate in two separate processions. The Presidential Escort will lead Clinton and the president's party from the U.S. Capitol through the Cordon of Honor along Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House.
Army Maj. Gen. Robert Foley, chairman of the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee and commander of the Army's Military District of Washington, will lead the presidential escort. The escort also includes the U.S. Army Band (Pershing's Own) and ceremonial platoons from the five Washington-based ceremonial units.
