If you love country music, you know Alan Jackson. If you work at the Pentagon, you can see him up close and personal Monday morning.
Jackson, recently nominated for eight Country Music Awards, including entertainer of the year, male vocalist of the year and two nominations for song of the year, is slated to sing at the Pentagon Sept. 9 during a live broadcast of ABC Good Morning America from 7 to 9 a.m.
During the show, show hosts Diane Sawyer and Charles Gibson are slated to interview Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld at his desk in the E Ring and to tour the Navy Operations Center. The Army Precision Drill Team is also scheduled to perform in the courtyard.
Jackson's performance of his Sept. 11 commemorative ballad, "Where Were You When the World Stop Turning," will cap the show. After the show goes off the air, Jackson is slated to perform for Pentagon employees for another 30 minutes.
The singer-songwriter, born in Newman, Ga., has more than 20 No. 1 hits, including his hallmark song "Chattahoochee," "Here in the Real World," "A Lot About Livin' (and a Little 'Bout Love)," "Wanted," "I'd Love You All Over Again," "Someday," "Midnight in Montgomery," "Dallas," "Summertime Blues," "Who Says You Can't Have It All," "Gone Country," "I'll Try" and "Home."
