Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld will conduct a town hall meeting in the Pentagon March 7 at 1 p.m. to focus on defense transformation issues and achievements.
The meeting, in the Pentagon auditorium, is aimed at a live audience of military members and civilian employees. The event will begin with a video entitled "Defend America." Rumsfeld is scheduled to speak at about 1:10 p.m. before opening the floor to questions. The meeting will be Webcast and globally broadcast by satellite live.
Defense officials said the secretary intends to outline the department's transformation accomplishments over the last year; DoD's change from a threat-based strategy to capabilities-based one; its reorganized missile defense program; the Nuclear Posture Review; the soon-to-be released, new unified command structure; and more.
The town hall meeting will be carried live via Realaudio on DefenseLINK. Listeners may access the event using the town hall Webcast link at http://www.defenselink.mil/briefings.
