    U.S. Women Win Bronze at 2000 CISM Triathlon Championship

    The U.S. military women's triathlon team posted a time of 7:06.43 to capture third place June 14 in the 2000 Conseil International du Sport Militaire World Military Championship in Sabaudia, Italy.

    Clocking the Americans' top three times for the team score were Army Maj. Heidi Grimm, U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y., 2:20.15, 12th place; Air Force Capt. Heidi McKenna, Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., 2:21.24, 13th; and Coast Guard Lt. Amy Baribeau, Coast Guard headquarters, Washington, 2:25.14, 16th.

    Other team members in the field of 30 triathletes were Air Force 1st Lt. Maiya Kraus, Langley Air Force Base, Va., 2:27.48, 18th; Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Susan Stark, 2nd Force Service Support Group, Camp Lejeune, N.C., 2:28.29, 19th; and Marine Corps Capt. Karen Krajecik, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, San Antonio, Texas, 2:35.03, 23rd.

    The U.S. men's team finished in 8th place out of 14 teams with a combined time of 5:57.38. Finishing 28th out of 76 and first for the U.S. squad was Army Maj. Michael Hagan of Fort Jackson, S.C., in 1:57.54. Finishing 29th was Air Force Capt. Peter Ohotnicky of Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Fla., in 1:58.02. Rounding out the men's score was Seaman Cyle Sage, Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla., 2:01.24, 37th place

    Other U.S. team members were Lt. Col. Robert Fink, Bradley Air National Guard Base, Conn., 2:01.47, 38th; Sgt. Steve Hazlett, Marine Corps Air Station, Futenma, Okinawa, 2:03.54, 45th; and 2nd Lt. Scott Miller, Panama City, Fla., 2:04.33, 49th.
