Iraqi security forces working with U.S. advisors arrested 10 suspects with ties to various terrorist organizations in recent operations, military officials reported.
In western Baghdad today, Iraqi forces arrested a suspected Kataib Hizballah member who allegedly is involved in roadside-bomb attacks and also is believed to have ties to the terrorist organization’s leaders.
North of Baghdad yesterday, Iraqi forces searched for a suspected al-Qaida in Iraq financier who allegedly is responsible for planting roadside bombs targeting Iraqi and coalition forces. Information and evidence gathered at the scene led Iraqi forces to identify and arrest two suspected criminal associates of the wanted man.
On July 3, Iraqi forces arrested a suspected al-Qaida in Iraq member allegedly involved in facilitating foreign fighters during a combined operation with U.S. advisors west of Baghdad in Abu Ghraib.
Also on July 3, Iraqi forces and U.S. advisors searched in northwestern Baghdad for a suspected Jaysh al-Mahdi terrorist group member who allegedly is involved in sniper attacks, indirect-fire operations and bombing attacks against Iraqi and U.S. forces. Information and evidence gathered at the scene led Iraqi forces to identify and arrest five suspected criminal associates of the wanted man.
Near Kirkuk on July 2, Iraqi forces arrested a suspected al-Qaida in Iraq member during a vehicle stop conducted as part of a combined security operation with U.S. advisors.
The suspected al-Qaida in Iraq member allegedly is involved in facilitating the movement, procurement and construction of vehicles for use as vehicle-borne bombs.
