    All of the military’s active duty and reserve components are on target to meet their recruiting and retention goals for the fiscal year, Pentagon officials said today.

    Through July, all four of the active duty components had met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for that point in fiscal 2011, which began Oct. 1. Here is the breakdown:

    -- The Marine Corps had 21,873 accessions, with a goal of 21,835, for 100 percent; and

    -- The Air Force had 23,210 accessions, with a goal of 23,210, for 100 percent.

    Meanwhile, five of the six reserve components met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for the first 10 months of the fiscal year:

    -- The Army National Guard had 41,704 accessions, with a goal of 43,659, for 96 percent;

    -- The Army Reserve had 25,206 accessions, with a goal of 23,134, for 109 percent;

    -- The Navy Reserve had 7,055 accessions, with a goal of 7,055, for 100 percent;

    -- The Marine Corps Reserve had 8,736 accessions, with a goal of 8,313, for 105 percent;

    -- The Air National Guard had 5,730 accessions, with a goal of 5,724, for 100 percent; and

    -- The Air Force Reserve had 7,644 accessions, with a goal of 7,632, for 100 percent.

    All four services are on track to meet their annual retention goals, and all of the reserve components are headed toward their annual attrition goals, officials said.
