SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Air Force Academy seniors, Cadet 1st Class Eric Varner, from Austin, Texas, and Cadet 1st Class Alan Foote, Wilson, N.C., visit the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia as part of their summer deployed operatons program.
They deploy to operatoinal wings in the theater to learn about current operations and further develop their leadership abilities.
The deployment will last 30 days including travel time during which they will get involved in various organizations as well as physical training and recreational activities.
Upon finishing their deployment most cadets will be able to take leave for limited amounts of time before returning to the Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The 380th AEW is home to the KC-10 Extender, U-2 Dragon Lady, E-3 Sentry and RQ-4 Global Hawk aircraft. The wing is comprised of four groups and 12 squadrons and the wing's deployed mission includes air refueling, air battle management, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance in support of overseas contingency operations in Southwest Asia.
