A former Army staff sergeant will become the fourth living recipient of the nation’s highest award for battlefield gallantry in Iraq or Afghanistan, White House officials announced today.

Clinton Romesha, who left the Army in 2011 and now lives in Minot, N.D., will receive the Medal of Honor from President Barack Obama in a Feb. 13 ceremony at the White House.

Romesha earned the medal for actions Oct. 3, 2009, during combat at Combat Outpost Keating in Afghanistan’s Nuristan province. At the time, he was a section leader with the 4th Infantry Division’s Bravo Troop, 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team.
