Defense Department officials announced today that the department will fully return the U.S. Army-Europe site in Stuttgart, Germany, to the host nation in 2015.

The Stuttgart Administrative Facility has been identified for return to the host nation as excess to the needs of the U.S. military in Europe, the officials said.

The site is in downtown Stuttgart and has housed the U.S. Forces Liaison Office for Baden-Wuerttemberg and the local administrative offices of contract guards for U.S. Army Garrison-Stuttgart, according to the officials.

Other administrative space on post has been identified for these organizations that will allow the site to be returned.

This action has no impact on U.S. or local national positions, defense officials said.

As with all stationing actions, they added, U.S. officials coordinated with host-nation officials before releasing the public announcement.
