    16th Sustainment Brigade

KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – The 21st Theater Sustainment Command held its annual Sports Day and organizational day at Pulaski Park, Kaiserslautern, Germany, on June 12-13, 2025.
Brigades are brought together for a time of athletic competition, team building, and celebration. The event also marked the unit's 60th anniversary and the impending 250th birthday of the U.S. Army.
Col. Todd Allison, the 21st TSC deputy commander, addressed participants and their families, emphasizing the significance of both milestones. He conveyed the immense pride of Maj. Gen. Ronald Ragin, the commanding general, and Command Sgt. Maj. Denice Malave, the senior enlisted advisor, highlighting the 21st TSC's critical role in supporting U.S. Army Europe and Africa operations.
Allison emphasized the extensive and demanding operational tempo of the command's brigades, deployed from Norway to Greece and across Africa. The event served as a token of appreciation for service members and their families, acknowledging their vital support amidst high operational demands.
"A shout out to the families who stand by their soldiers and enable them to do what they do," he stated. "We couldn't do it without you.”
The sports day kicked off with a morning football tournament featuring the 18th Military Police Brigade, 21st TSC, 16th Sustainment Brigade, and 30th Medical Brigade. After preliminary matches, including U.S. Army Guard HHC, the 30th Medical Brigade triumphed over the 21st TSC in the championship game, concluding the day's athletic events.
After the day's events, the 30th Medical Brigade earned the 2025 Commander's Cup. The 16th Sustainment Brigade was recognized as the runner-up for their "outstanding effort and a hard-earned finish."
Following the athletic events, the 21st TSC continued its time capsule tradition, which began on June 27, 2024. The 2025 capsule, stored in the command hallway, opens on June 14, 2035. It symbolizes the resilience and legacy of 21st TSC leaders, families, and community in providing sustainment.
Units proudly filled the time capsule with items reflecting their achievements. The 7th Mission Support Command submitted a partnership flag and a pride pin. The 16th Sustainment Brigade contributed a brigade coin and LSA Eagle badges from their command team, showcasing their unit's spirit.
The 18th Military Police Brigade contributed a regimental coin symbolizing garrison duties. The 30th Medical Brigade added whole blood from "Victory Medics," representing their 500-unit delivery and field hospital setup during Defender 25, which significantly boosted warfighter survivability.
The Support Operations officer added a beer opener and large Euro coins, reflecting enduring aspects of life in Germany. Finally, the 21st TSC command team presented a deployment brief outlining their priorities (people, mission, and families) and a two-star banking note expressing gratitude for extensive theater-wide support, from Norway to Morocco, and in support of Ukraine. The time capsule box was designed by Mr. Gene Warren and Will Lester, who received commendation for their "first-class job."
The organizational day concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, a military tradition symbolizing an organization's history and future. Maj. Gen. Ronald Ragin and Command Sgt. Maj. Denice Malave, representing the 21st TSC's history, were joined by Pfc. Jerrod Adams, the most junior member, described the future of the organization.
Command Sgt. Maj. Malave offered closing remarks, thanking all attendees for taking a break from their high operational tempo to enjoy time with family.
"This is just a small token of appreciation for everything you and your families do for the 21st TSC," Malave said, emphasizing the unit's reliance on its personnel. "We are not successful without every one of you."
