COMMANDER, FLEET ACTIVITIES CHINHAE, South Korea (June 5, 2025) -- Commander, U.S. Fleet Activities Chinhae (CFAC), welcomed its new commander, Cmdr. Lawrence Schaffer, during a change of command ceremony held June 5. Schaffer relieved Cmdr. James DiPasquale, who lead CFAC for two years.
About his tour as CFAC, “Looking back at my time as commanding officer, I’m filled with pride over what we’ve accomplished together,” said Cmdr. DiPasquale. “During my tenure, we faced typhoons and personnel shortages. Through teamwork and dedication, we overcame these challenges and emerged stronger.”
The ceremony was officiated by Rear Adm. Neil Koprowski, Commander, Navy Region Korea. About the change of command, Adm. Koprowski said to Cmdr. Lawrence, “(DiPasquale) had an ethos and mindset of readiness. He was an example of resiliency and candid spirit.”
CNFK is the U.S. Navy’s representative in South Korea, providing leadership and expertise in naval matters to improve institutional and operational effectiveness between the two navies and to strengthen collective security efforts in Korea and the region.
