BAUMHOLDER, Germany — The 16th Sustainment Brigade recently honored Chief Warrant Officer 3 Pedro P. Rosa Jr., of the 16th Special Troops Battalion, as he concluded a 20-year career of dedicated service to the U.S. Army at the Wagon Wheel theater in Baumholder, Germany, on June 6, 2025.
The retirement ceremony began with the arrival of Col. Matthew Alexander, the 16th Sustainment Brigade commander, and Command Sgt. Maj. Jason Towns, the 16th Sustainment Brigade command sergeant major.
The ceremony included an invocation by the brigade chaplain, Maj. David DeRienzo, followed by honors to both the U.S. and German nations. Col. Alexander and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Alexander Perez, a senior ordinance ground maintenance warrant officer with the 16th Sustainment Brigade Support Operations, offered their remarks. "Thank you for your service, your sacrifices, and your unwavering commitment," said Chief Warrant Officer 4 Perez. "We wish you the very best in retirement, filled with happiness, health, and new adventures."
Awards were presented to Rosa, recognizing his two decades of service, and his family for their immense support, as well as the brigade's gratitude. Sgt. Thomas Snell from the Sergeant Morales Club and Sgt. Mirlbia Villar from the 16th Sustainment Brigade conducted the flag presentation.
Rosa, a native of Brooklyn, New York, who grew up in Orlando, Florida, enlisted in February 2005. He completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, becoming a field artillery meteorological crew member. His first assignment was with the 4th Battalion, 11th Field Artillery Regiment at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
Rosa's early service included deployments to Iraq. In 2006, he deployed with the 172nd Striker Brigade Combat Team to the Tigris River Valley, where he participated in more than 200 ground combat missions. He deployed again to Iraq in 2008 with the 2nd Battalion, 8th Field Artillery Regiment, Reconnaissance Platoon, in Diyala Province, helping to clear more than 31 weapons caches and removing over 24,000 munitions from the battlefield.
In 2010, Rosa transitioned to the Signal Corps as an information technology specialist. He served with the 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and deployed to Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, in 2011, where he supported a complex retrograde mission.
Rosa was selected for the Warrant Officer Cohort in 2014. He served with the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade-Theater in Wiesbaden, Germany, and later with the 1st Cavalry Division Sustainment Brigade. He received the Lt. Gen. Levin Hicks Campbell Distinguished Award of Merit for migrating division VSAT terminals to the sustainment tactical network. Since June 2021, he has served as the data operations warrant officer with the 16th Sustainment Brigade in Baumholder, Germany.
Throughout his career, Rosa earned a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity Management and Policy from the University of Maryland Global Campus, as well as numerous certifications in military and industry sectors.
As Rosa retires, we recognize his impressive achievements and the profound sacrifices he and his family endured throughout his 20 years. He leaves the U.S. Army with an indelible mark, a testament to his honor, courage, and steadfast dedication. We extend our gratitude for his service and wish him great success in the years ahead.
