The Centennial Banquet and Conference Center at Fort Bliss, Texas, hosted the annual transition Expo and job fair by the Army Community Service transition assistance program, May 21-22.
The two-day expo connected transitioning troops, their families, veterans, and others with employers, educational institutions, and support services. It also offered DoD ID card holders professional career training, including resume writing and career skills roundtables.
The first day focused on employment support services, with presentations by military transition consultants emphasizing direct communication.
The second day featured a job fair with over 130 employers from federal and state public sectors, as well as private sector companies like Boeing, SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation), and University Medical Center of El Paso.
.
Fort Bliss Army Transition Assistance Program specialist Daniel Keel said the team had been planning the annual expo for some time and he was pleased with the turnout.
“This year’s turnout was very successful, with a significant increase in attendance,” said Keel. “One way we gauge turnout is through feedback from the vendors. Many repeat vendors enthusiastically reported that attendance far exceeded last year’s [event.]”
