Underscoring its commitment to patient safety and quality care, the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center (DDEAMC) has been awarded an "A" grade for Spring 2025 from the Leapfrog Group, a nationally recognized patient safety watchdog organization. This recognition reflects DDEAMC's dedication to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

The Defense Health Agency (DHA) Enterprise is the first federal health system to participate in the Leapfrog Group Safety Grade for hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. This pioneering participation demonstrates the DHA's proactive approach to transparency and continuous improvement in patient care.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns letter grades of “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures. These measures encompass a broad range of factors, including errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as the robust systems hospitals have implemented to prevent harm.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to healthcare transparency and safety. Its Hospital Safety Grade is unique in its focus on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries, providing patients and their families with valuable information to make informed healthcare decisions.

"This 'A' grade from The Leapfrog Group is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire DDEAMC team," said hospital Commander COL James G. Pairmore. "We are committed to providing our patients with the safest and highest quality care possible, and this recognition validates our efforts to continuously improve and prioritize patient safety."

Earning an “A” grade signifies that DDEAMC has demonstrated a strong commitment to implementing processes and protocols that effectively minimize preventable medical errors, ensuring a safer environment for patients. This includes infection control measures, proactive error prevention strategies, and a culture of safety that empowers staff to speak up and address potential risks.

The Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Grade is a valuable resource for patients seeking information about the safety and quality of care provided at hospitals in their community. This recognition highlights DDEAMC's dedication to excellence in patient safety and solidifies its position as a leader in providing high-quality healthcare within the DHA Enterprise.
