BAUMHOLDER, Germany - The 16th Sustainment Brigade (SB) Command Supply staff hosts a Knights Logistics University course at the Digital Training Facility in Baumholder, Germany, from March 10, 2025, to March 14, 2025.
Colonel Matthew Alexander, the 16th SB Commander, aims to enhance the effectiveness of key assets and trusted advisors through education on Command Supply Discipline and training in Unit Supply.
With this intent in mind, the 16th SB property book officer, Chief Warrant Officer II Analisia Wilson, would direct the course to improve understanding and elevate collective knowledge.
“The course is built on the foundational education needed to be successful in your field,” said 16th SB Support Operations Sergeant Major Jomo Blair as he commences the start of the course. “There is a great deal of basic, essential information that the class is unaware of, and I believe, based on the curriculum, it would be very beneficial.”
Staff Sergeant Vimbainashe Mutenzwa, a Supply Specialist for the 39th Transportation Battalion, discusses the Material Comparison Reports (ZMATCOMP). These transaction codes provide comparative views on what equipment is authorized or hand-held, which helps ensure that units are properly equipped to carry out their missions effectively. The students then learn the basics of equipment layouts, Bills of Material, Technical Manuals (TMs), and Sets, Kits, Outfits, and Tools (SKOTs).
Property Book Office clerks Sergeant (Sgt.) Samuel Asante and Sgt. Zackarie Niare teach the class how to help supply soldiers and commanders properly account for their properties and equipment. They share their expertise on the monthly reports involved in the program. This includes reviewing the inventory count to ensure accurate accountability and protect the Army's investments.
Captain Kiprotich Langat, the 16th SB Budget Officer, and his primary staff continue with their course. They focus on budgeting practices, including types of funds and government purchase cards, as well as preparing financial reports and advising the Command team on these matters.
Sergeant First Class Talavou Tanuvasa, the Command Supply NCOIC, instructs the class on creating essential and operational supply loads to support daily operations. BDE Supply System Technician Warrant Officer Chamonte Granger also leads a segment on Supply Support Activity Turn-Ins, ensuring prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. This entails processing and verifying that the turn-ins are clean and serviceable and that all necessary paperwork is present before accepting responsibility for the materials thereafter.
Sgt. Tovar, a property book officer with the 95th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, teaches the class the Decision Support Tool (DST). This decision-sourcing module is used to manage the distribution and redistribution of equipment. This tool is essential for logisticians to ensure readiness and coordination between authorized and on-hand equipment.
Col. Alexander presents awards to the diligent and actively engaged students during the course, including Sgt. Joshua Cruz of the Headquarters & Headquarters Detachment, 34th Movement Control Battalion; Spc. Ryan Tipton of the 95th CSSB and Sgt. Thalia Berry of the 7th Engineer Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command.
“There is a great deal of basic, essential information that the class is unaware of, and I believe, based on the curriculum, it would be very beneficial,” said Sgt. Maj. Blair.
