KABUL, Afghanistan — The RC-West Provincial Reconstruction Team recently unveiled several new projects in the Koshan District in the western portion of the Herat province.

The first project is the construction of a vocational training centre. The facility, which will cover approximately 470 square meters, will contain seven rooms. All services provided by the centre will be arranged on a single level. The project will cost approximately €62,000 and will be provided by the Italian Ministry of Defence.

The second project is a renovation of the district's basic health centre. The current building is deteriorating with age and lack of maintenance. The project is a collaboration between the PRT and the local Department of Health.

Currently, the heavily populated area lacks an adequate health care system. The basic health centre will serve residents who need primary care and emergency health management.

Col. Claudio Dei, PRT commander, also visited schools in the Koshan and Zenda Jan Districts Wednesday to inaugurate two new computer classrooms, each with 20 computers, printers, scaners and a local area network.

Ghulam Tanha, head of the Herat's Department of Education, and Shaoobi Masoomi, a representative of the governor of Herat, local elders and several students attended the ceremony.

Mr. Tanha thanked the colonel, "for the continuous, constant and active support Regional Command-West continues to invest in the education sector, which is of vital importance for the development of the country and in general for the good of the people of Afghanistan."
