McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, Tenn. - The Tennessee Air National Guard successfully conducted its 2024 Squadron Commander's Course from June 11 to June 13, bringing together a diverse group of leaders and presenters to foster connections between the Wings and cultivate the next generation of leaders.

The course featured a comprehensive lineup of presenters from Joint Force Headquarters including the Assistant Adjutant General-Air, Chief of Staff, Inspector General, Personnel, Human Resources Officer (HRO), and many more. Each presenter brought valuable insights and expertise, contributing to the course's overarching goal of building a cohesive leadership network within the Tennessee Air National Guard.

"The Squadron Commander's Course is a crucial component of our leadership development program," said Col. Jay Jackson, JFHQ Director of Staff. "It's designed to equip our future commanders with the skills and knowledge they need to lead effectively, while also emphasizing the importance of building strong, interconnected relationships across our Wings."

Throughout the course, participants engaged in a variety of briefings, panels, and team-building activities. These activities not only provided practical leadership training but also facilitated meaningful interactions and collaborations among the attendees.

One of the highlights of the course was a panel discussion featuring senior leaders from different Wings who shared their experiences and insights on effective command and leadership. This session underscored the importance of cross-wing communication and collaboration, which are essential for maintaining a unified and responsive force.

"Connecting with leaders from other Wings has been incredibly beneficial," said Maj. Jacqueline Lewis, 118th Communication Squadron Commander. "It's given us a broader perspective on leadership challenges and opportunities, and we're leaving here with a stronger network and a renewed sense of purpose."

As the course concluded, participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to learn from seasoned leaders and to connect with their peers. The Tennessee Air National Guard remains committed to investing in leadership development programs like the Squadron Commander's Course to ensure its leaders are prepared to meet the demands of their roles and to lead their units with confidence and integrity.

"The success of our organization depends on the strength and capability of our leaders," said Jackson. "By fostering connections and providing comprehensive training, we are building a foundation for future success and ensuring that the Tennessee Air National Guard remains a premier force."

The 2024 Squadron Commander's Course has set a high standard for future leadership development initiatives, highlighting the Tennessee Air National Guard's dedication to excellence and its commitment to developing the leaders of tomorrow.
