Get to know the February Altus Airman of the Month, Senior Airman Anjal Shrestha, 97th Civil Engineer Squadron structural sub-asset management plan manager.
Q: Where are you from?
A: Pokhara, Nepal
Q: Can you tell me a little bit about your job?
A: I am responsible for identifying structural assets in need of enhancement, such as roofs, interior and exterior walls, flooring, doors, and stairs. My job is to figure out the best strategy for maintenance or replacement while making the most of our labor and financial resources. In simple terms, I track what assets we have, how they're performing, the cost of operating them, and the best time to repair, replace, or eliminate them to maximize efficiency and support our mission.
Q: How does your job contribute to the mission?
A: I provide a voice for the shops and the Requirements and Optimization section to shape the operations, maintenance, and recapitalization strategy at Altus Air Force Base. This involves managing 1,700 assets and $2.1 billion in infrastructure across 2.5 million square feet and 335 facilities. Our work supports 18 units, 7,800 personnel, and $6 billion in aircraft. I analyze data and create detailed operational plans to balance preventive and corrective maintenance for the Air Force's sole C-17, KC-135, and KC-46 training units. My data and condition ratings support a $271 million flying hour program for 2,000 annual aircrew trainees.
Q: What’s a fun fact about yourself?
A: I speak two languages, Nepali and English
