ARLINGTON, Texas - The Dallas-Fort Worth Recruiting Battalion participated in the Total Army Career Fair at Globe Life Field, April 13. The event, hosted by the Civilian Human Resources Agency, served as a platform for job seekers to learn about the wide range of job opportunities available throughout the Army.
Military personnel and potential employers from 30 different Army organizations connected with the local community during the hiring fair, which was open to all civilians in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Attendees had the opportunity to network, learn about job openings, and enhance their job-searching skills.
While the main purpose of the event was to facilitate hiring, it also served to foster connections with the DFW community.
During the fair, CHRA highlighted the Army's civilian employment opportunities, challenging the common misperception that the military consists only of Soldiers. Department of Defense employees provided education about the various Army agencies and worked to humanize the Army for those unfamiliar with uniformed service.
According to Col. Xavier Colon, 5th Recruiting Brigade commander, between 750 and 1,000 job seekers attended. About 25% were eligible for military service, resulting in a prospecting pool of 200-250 individuals, he said.
DFW BN Recruiters engaged with those eligible and generated 61 leads and 27 appointments. Colon said, “the ratio of leads generated to appointments made, indicated the attendees were highly motivated job seekers.”
