With his daughter Emery in his arms and his wingmen by his side, Capt. Jeffrey Kinsey officially assumed command of the 910th Logistics Readiness Squadron, April 6, 2024, during the unit training assembly at Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio.
“I am proud and humbled to be able to serve as your commander,” said Kinsey.
For Kinsey, a father of six, there’s never a dull moment. With children ranging from two to 21, his family has consistently been at his side through it all.
“Family has been my everything during my (military) journey,” said Kinsey.
Kinsey began his career alongside his brother where together they joined the U.S. Marine Corps. After serving eight years active duty in the Corps, Kinsey transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve. He’d serve an additional six years before making his way to the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
From multiple deployments to extended time in Japan, Kinsey’s family has never faltered. They’re his anchor during difficult times and the ones who’ve made the countless sacrifices to ensure he was always ready to serve.
Now as commander, Kinsey invited his Airmen to lay down the groundwork with their own support systems at home.
“Prepare your families and make sure they are ready,” said Kinsey. “Take time to show your appreciation. While we’re all out here this weekend, they’re at home holding down the fort for all of you.”
During his assumption of command speech, Kinsey had his first opportunity to address his entire unit directly. Stressing the importance of knowing and understanding your wingmen, Kinsey encouraged his Airmen to train, develop and grow as a whole unit.
“We get to decide what type of unit we have here at LRS,” said Kinsey. “We’re going to be a unit that we’re proud of—that we’re proud to be a part of. That we all are going to know our worth. That we’re going to know our mission. We’re going to embrace the concept of always being ready.”
Preparing his Airmen, Kinsey made a promise to them as their commander: To provide LRS Airmen with the necessary training to combat peer and near-peer competitors and to remain combat-ready while innovating for the future.
“Embrace the ACE (Agile Combat Employment) and mission-ready concepts,” said Kinsey. “We are going to be doing the necessary expeditionary training and we’re going to do it hard. It won’t be easy, but I know each one of you will be able to adapt those necessary skillsets.”
