Dominique VanGundy, a San Antonio, Texas native, has made a significant impact at Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC), serving as the command’s SharePoint Team Leader. Also serving as the command’s Webmaster and technical expert, VanGundy is responsible for technical planning, design, development, testing, implementation, and management of both internet and intranet activities.
VanGundy served as an aviation maintenance administrator in the Navy for four years and has been part of the MARMC family for seven.
“My job in the Navy directly translated to what I do today, so it’s a good fit for me,” said VanGundy. “SharePoint has come a long way, and I am just thankful to have developed usable skills while I was in the Navy.”
Over the past six months, VanGundy has earned several Bravo Zulus, On the Spot Awards and a recent nomination for the IT-Individual Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Excellence Award.
“All of her recognition has come from her superb commitment to the command,” said Dave Shutter, Infrastructure Management division head. “Her attitude and interactions show continuous dedication to the team.”
“I definitely am blessed to have the leadership that supports me and is there for me, who believe in my talent,” said VanGundy. “Having a great set of leaders make this process easier. I especially would like to thank my SharePoint team for their support. We’ve spent many years together.”
VanGundy has been the mainstay in the Information Management Branch through the meticulous re-write of over 20 command-specific web tools. In addition, she took over all responsibilities of the ShVR (Ships Visit Request) tool from Commander, Navy Regional Maintenance Center (CNRMC) and completely modified the process of onboarding contractors to naval vessels and shipyards.
It is her work and significant contributions within the SharePoint team that has earned her recognition as March’s Civilian in the Spotlight!
