Staff Sgt. Jason M. Yurek, a native of Knoxville, Tenn., is serving on his third deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, at Contingency Operating Base Speicher, near Tikrit, Iraq. Yurek is a medic with the commanding general's protective service detachment, Headquarters and Headquarters Support Company, Division Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, out of Fort Stewart, Ga.
Yurek is the son of James and Carol Yurek of Knoxville, Tenn. His wife Shannon currently resides in Brooklet, Ga. Yurek is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tenn.
As a medic, Yurek ensures personnel are up to date on their shots and administers necessary medication to Soldiers. He also provides medical aid to Soldiers on patrol or other individuals that may need medical attention.
