KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghan National Security Forces, with International Security and Assistance Force partners, captured three insurgents, including Mullah Janan Andewahl, a Taliban commander in Uruzgan province, March 5.
In addition to having coordinated numerous roadside bombings, Andewahl has coordinated mortar and rocket attacks against both local Afghans and coalition forces. He remains in custody, subject to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan's justice system.
Two women and six children were protected throughout this operation. No shots were fired and no civilians were injured in this operation.
