The 88th Air Base Wing’s 2023 award winners were announced during a ceremony Feb. 9 at the Wright-Patt Club.
Col. Travis Pond, 88 ABW commander; Chief Master Sgt. Lloyd Morales, the wing’s command chief; John Faulkner, 88 ABW vice director, and other base leaders hosted an appreciative, high-spirited awards event in the Grande Ballroom.
Pond highlighted the dedication and drive that both military and civilian Airmen have for their positions.
“Dominating the dirty work through excellence in mission support is hard and sometimes-thankless work. This is why recognizing our outstanding performers is so important,” he said. “We recognize a select few today for their outstanding contributions, fully understanding that it takes a team to make any one of us successful.”
Many Airmen and civilians wore MTV-themed T-shirts – authorized for the annual event as an alternate-duty location. Personnel within 88 ABW also broke out into group, unit and organization-energized chants as nominees and winners were revealed.
“We’re beyond proud to stand here today and recognize our amazing Airmen. There would be no mission success without every single one of you,” Morales said. “Congratulations and keep up the outstanding work! We look forward to seeing these winners go forth and compete at the next level.”
There were 14 award categories. Individual and team winners now go on to compete in the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s annual awards.
“We want to wish a huge congratulations to our 2023 winners, and thanks to all for what you do each day as part of the Mighty 88th,” Pond said.
