Maj. Mark Harris took command of the 910th Civil Engineer Squadron on Feb. 3, 2024, at Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio. Lt. Col. Russell Whitlock, 910th Mission Support Group commander, officiated the ceremony.

Harris said that as the new 910th CES commander, he wants to focus on accomplishing goals from several angles.

“We want to get after things in three ways,” said Harris, “initiative, communication and execution.”

During Whitlock’s remarks, he quoted former Air Force Chief of Staff David Goldfein to remind Harris and other commanders about relationships between leaders, urging that successes should be shared while failures should be owned.

Whitlock encouraged Harris to embrace the opportunities, challenges and friendships ahead as commander of the civil engineers.

“Thank the Airmen you get to serve and make the most of every moment,” said Whitlock. “Before you know it you, will transfer the guidon you are about to take hold of and move onto the next challenge.”

Harris thanked the Airmen and their families and expressed excitement for the opportunity to work with members of the 910th CES.

“Let’s show our defenders and the rest of the mission support group all the way down to the flightline just what we’re about.” said Harris.

The 910th CES maintains a support engineering force capable of rapid response for world contingency operations.
