The Mighty Ninety hosted a base heritage run Aug. 15, 2023, at the Argonne Parade Field on F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, in honor of the anniversary of the U.S. victory over Japan in World War II.
The heritage run, planned by Jeremiah Foster, 90th Missile Wing Historian, was an event in which participants ran a 5k consisting of two laps around the base’s parade field. In addition to the run, there was a fitness challenge as well as an audio tour that runners could listen to on their phones.
Foster dedicated the run to the 90th Missile Wing’s lineage with the 90th Bombardment Group (Heavy), stating that the run was about honoring tradition. The 90 BG played a major role in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and continued to fly over Japan during the Japanese surrender in case of any contingencies.
When discussing the preparations made for the run, Foster repeatedly expressed gratitude to the Chaplain’s Office for and the Chaplain Candidate working with him.
“The chaplain’s office has been very helpful,” Foster said. “They donated water and Gatorade.”
2nd Lt. Samuel Jackson, a Chaplain Candidate and reservist temporarily assigned to F.E. Warren, played a major role in the run, assisting Foster in organizing the event and running with the other participants.
After the run, Jackson stayed to speak with some of the other participants. When asked if he would complete the about doing the run again the following year, Jackson admitted that he was unsure whether he would still be at F.E. Warren, but if he were, he fully intended to participate again.
