COLUMBUS, Ohio—About 20 Soldiers from the Ohio Army National Guard 196th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment are scheduled to mobilize for active duty in March in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The public is invited to the unit's 11 a.m. call to duty ceremony Sunday, March 7, at the Groveport Recreation Center, 7370 Groveport Road, Groveport, Ohio, 43125.

This is the unit's second deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The unit first mobilized to Iraq in January 2004, returning in March 2005. The unit was assigned to the 1st Infantry Division and earned the Meritorious Unit Commendation during their deployment. The MUC is awarded "for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services" during operations against an armed enemy.

The 196th MPAD will support the public affairs needs of about 20,000 service members while deployed.
