Meet U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District Resident Administrative Assistant Rosemarie Sotelo who is deployed to Maui helping with the Hawaii Wildfires federal response. In her home district she works in the construction division where she provides administrative support to engineers, project managers, and quality assurance specialists.
In Maui she is the debris mission data manager and she assists with the tracking and status of incoming and outgoing mission personnel. She also works as a debris Call Center representative, directing the community to resources, answering questions, or listening to concerns they might have regarding debris and the debris removal process. This is her fourth deployment, and while she does miss home, she finds it rewarding to be here helping.
“Deploying is bittersweet for me,” said Sotelo. “I miss my family and my dogs when I’m gone, but the humbling experience of helping others in a time of need is truly a blessing and irreplaceable to me.”
