Meet U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District Administrative Officer Cheri Massie who is deployed to Maui helping with the Hawaii Wildfires federal response. In her home district Massie provides full administrative assistance to the Coralville Lake Office in Iowa City, Iowa.

In Maui Massie is a quality assurance specialist working in the debris hotline call center where she provides direct assistance to the victims of the August 2023 wildfires that devastated Kula and Lahaina. This is her first deployment with USACE in support of a recovery mission.

“I am truly humbled and honored to have the opportunity to assist in this devastating recovery mission,” said Massie. “The kindness and humility of the Maui Ohana is life changing to witness. I will be forever grateful for this gift. Mahalo.”
