    12.07.2023

Story by Staff Sgt. Orlando Corpuz

    Joint Task Force Red Hill

Today, Joint Task Force-Red Hill (JTF-RH) completed the defueling of the flowable tank bottoms at the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility (RHBFSF).

To date, JTF-RH has safely removed approximately 104,421,534 gallons of fuel from Red Hill.

The next step is unpacking, which is the process of removing the remaining fuel from the pipelines and represents the final step in the gravity-based defueling of the RHBFSF.

Pending regulatory approval, unpacking is expected to begin on or about Dec. 12.

An updated JTF-RH video illustrating unpacking can be found at: dvidshub.net/video/906750/updated-unpacking-video.

JTF-RH is committed to working with regulators and government stakeholders to ensure Red Hill is defueled safely, expeditiously, and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
