NÜRNBERG, Germany – Brig. Gen. Steven P. Carpenter, Commanding General of 7th Army Training Command (7ATC), went to the Nürnberg Town Hall to sign a partnership agreement with Marcus König, Lord Mayor of Nürnberg, in Nürnberg, Germany, Dec. 1, 2023. The partnership agreement is a formal declaration of the unity and commitment to teamwork shared by members of the U.S. Army stationed in Bavaria and the people and leadership of the city of Nürnberg.

“It is an honor to represent 7ATC and the 50,000 Soldiers, civilians and family members that call Bavaria home,” said Carpenter, “as we cement our relationship through the signing of an official partnership.”

The agreement promises that “both partners will foster the expansion of human, cultural, tourist, sports and educational relations. To include a large number of citizens into this partnership, lasting contacts between families and especially between young people will be promoted.”

In addition to the strong relationships built between members of both communities over the years since 7ATC’s establishment in Bavaria, the city of Nürnberg has remained one of 7ATC’s most important strategic partners with close ties to many U.S. Army offices, such as the legal office, Army airfield, Joint Multinational Training Group – Ukraine, and many more.

“The signing of an official partnership between the city of Nürnberg and 7ATC is a symbol of this relationship,” said Carpenter. “A cornerstone of the friendship between the United States Army and Germany.”

“I am very thankful that we have our American friends very close by in Grafenwöhr who actually support us,” said König.

“We're excited for the strengthening partnership between the American Army and your historic and beautiful city,” said Carpenter. “We truly are stronger together. Train to win. As we say, it is better in Bavaria.”
