    36th Wing

Andersen Air Force Base, Guam-- U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Bryan Good, 36th Communications Squadron vulnerability management technician, was recognized as the 36th Wing’s Team Andersen Linebacker of the Week, at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, Oct. 18, 2023.

The Team Andersen Linebacker of the Week recognizes outstanding enlisted, officer, civilian and total force personnel who have had an impact on achieving Team Andersen’s mission, vision and priorities.

As a vulnerability management technician, Good provides intrusion prevention services to nearly 9,000 joint wing systems to ensure client compliance with Defense Information Systems Agency benchmarks and protect against the latest cyber threats. He continuously monitors, remediates and reports network vulnerabilities to increase computer and network security. Good implements periodic Pacific Air Forces’ upgrades to systems and servers increasing backend security to harden the cyber defensive posture of Andersen AFB. He also monitors, updates and briefs the 36 CS and 36th Mission Support Group commander on the cyber readiness of Andersen AFB, utilizing vulnerability scanning software.

As one of the lead cybersecurity vulnerability management technicians, Good is tasked with ensuring Andersen AFB’s network is secure from threats and vulnerabilities. One of his key attributes is being able to work as a vital team member to keep the 36 Wing’s vulnerability management program rated #1 in PACAF while enhancing responsiveness and resiliency against regional threats. Good joined with a bachelors degree in biblical literature and he continues to influence his peers to pursue higher education and motivates his fellow wingmen to live out the core values. Furthermore, Good selflessly volunteered and recently completed Base Honor Guard training.

“I joined the Air Force because I wanted to get my career jumpstarted in cybersecurity,” said Good. “I looked into the military and realized that cyber jobs were available and that I would be able to get on the job experience and the opportunity to go back to school.”

Good is the first to volunteer and performs his duties on and off base. More recently, he volunteered as a storm rider for the network control center during Tropical Storm Bolaven. During the storm, he recognized the data center temperature rising. He quickly jumped into action by notifying the Emergency Operations Center. His actions helped protect a $67 million network, providing services to more than 9,000 personnel and their families.

“One of our core values is ‘excellence in all we do’,” said Good. “When you show up to work and give it your best and demonstrate that you are here to perform at a high level, you are demonstrating one of those core values and what it means to be in the Air Force.”

The term Linebacker is rooted deep within Team Andersen’s history. Operation Linebacker II took place on Dec. 18, 1972, and was the largest number of heavy bomber strikes launched by the U.S. Air Force since the end of World War II. During the operation, B-52s from Andersen flew round-the-clock bombing missions over North Vietnam to destroy major targets in Hanoi and Haiphong in an effort to bring the Democratic Republic of Vietnam back to negotiations.

The recipient will have the opportunity to sign a “Linebacker” football jersey that will be displayed in the Wing Headquarters building.

    Way to go, Good!
