USAG HUMPHREYS, South Korea — The Korean Service Corps took a significant step in its readiness and preparedness for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear threats with a training exercise at USAG Humphreys Sept. 19, 2023.
This training underlines the KSC's commitment to safeguarding the nation against evolving CBRN challenges.

Lt. Col. Jung “Steve” Soh, commanding officer of the KSC, emphasized the importance of such training in today's environment.
“We have to be able to get familiar with it so that in any event we are always ready to fight,” said Soh.

The KSC is a paramilitary group. The KSC supports United States Forces Korea and Eighth Army troops throughout the peninsula. The KSC Battalion provides a multitude of additional sustainment capabilities including language translators, maintenance, hot refueling, and many other professional areas. The event began with KSC members dawning their Mission Oriented Protective Posture gear. Members would then enter the gas chamber and clear their masks. Once inside members would do various exercises such as running in place and swinging their arms.
This training will keep us ready for any conflicts that might occur while on the peninsula, said one KSC member after finishing the training.

The KSC has demonstrated dedication and commitment in their CBRN training here at USAG Humphreys. As partners in ensuring the safety and readiness of both Korean and U.S. forces, their training and tireless efforts are a testament to the strong alliance between our nations.
