GHAZNI PROVINCE, Afghanistan — Polish volunteers and members Task Force White Eagle members delivered $30,000 worth of specialized medical equipment to Ghazni Provincial Hospital, Feb. 6.
Three doctors from the Polish non-governmental organization, Patients Safety Foundation, travelled to Ghazni to personally deliver the modern diagnostic equipment purchased by the foundation.
"We delivered two ultrasonography devices with two monitors and two electrical blood pressure cuffs," said Dr. Boguslawa Dzikowska, a doctor from the Polish Patients Safety Foundation.
"During the visit, we were able to see the operating rooms and speak with hospital staff and patients regarding their needs," said Dr. Katarzyna Pierun, a doctor from the Polish Patients Safety Foundation. "This visit will help our foundation establish priorities for further cooperation and support for this hospital and the people of Ghazni province."
Battle Group Alpha, Civil Military Cooperation Group officers, and the doctors representing the foundation presented the equipment to Dr. Isibrahim Zai, the hospital director, and the Dr. Zia Gul, the provincial health director.
"On behalf of the hospital's medical personnel and the community of Ghazni province, I express my greatest gratitude to the foundation and soldiers for the donation," said Gul.
Gul noted that the hospital frequently receives equipment and supplies from Coalition soldiers from Forward Operating Base Ghazni.
Previously, the foundations' volunteers have donated specialized equipment to improve the hospital's gynecology ward as well as performed medical examinations.
Also included in the donations was dental equipment and medicine provided by the Polish Medical Support Group.
