332nd Air Expeditionary Wing Public Affairs
JOINT BASE BALAD, Iraq -- Airman 1st Class Allison Boehm of the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing Public Affairs office is the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing's Tuskegee Airman of the Week for Jan. 24-30.
"Airman Boehm is a highly motivated individual and has excelled in the workplace," said Brig. Gen. Craig Franklin, 332nd AEW commander. "She is doing exactly what I ask all Airmen to do when they arrive at JBB: Do something for the mission, do something for yourself and do something for others."
After congratulating the new winner in front of wing leadership, Franklin presented Boehm with the award and a commander's coin at the wing headquarters Feb. 4.
Boehm, a public affairs journalist, wrote 20 stories while serving on her first deployment to Iraq. Her stories have increased morale among deployed Airmen and have informed thousands of individuals of the responsible drawdown of U.S. forces in Iraq.
The Troy, Ill., native has also provided operations security information at weekly briefings to all inprocessing Airmen on JBB's regulations on uploading photos to social networks and other internet Web sites which has ensured vital base information is kept off public Web sites.
"It's an honor to be able to tell the Air Force story and be recognized as the Tuskegee Airman of the Week," said Boehm. "I appreciate the opportunities my job has given me, and I look forward to continuing to support the mission here at JBB."
Among her accomplishments, Boehm has also volunteered her time as the vice president of JBB's First Four. In that role, she has co-hosted a morale movie night and has organized a volleyball tournament that will aid the Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund.
Boehm, deployed from Barksdale Air Force Base, La., has also taken considerable steps to obtain her Community College of the Air Force degree by taking three College Level Examination Program tests in the last two months.
Boehm was nominated by Senior Master Sgt. Stefan Alford, the 332nd AEW PA superintendent.
"Airman Boehm readily takes on many duties normally performed by a non-commissioned officer in the deployed area and handles these responsibilities expertly," Alford said. "She is usually the one behind-the-scenes publicizing the outstanding efforts of JBB service members, and her communication and people skills ensure they get the recognition they deserve - so it's fitting to see her lauded for her work."
Airmen between the ranks of E-1 and E-5 are eligible to become the 332nd AEW Tuskegee Airman of the Week, based on accomplishments on- and off-duty.
