JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. – The Team McChord First Sergeant Council hosted the 2nd annual Dash for Danielle Run-A-Thon at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, Aug. 11, 2023.
In 2020, U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Danielle Lynch, a first sergeant, tragically and unexpectedly lost her life to domestic violence.
Well-known as an avid runner and inspirational leader, the run-a-thon is the perfect way to pay tribute to Danielle’s service and honor her memory.
“Danielle’s ascension to first sergeant status reflected her unparalleled motivation and mentorship,” said Master Sgt. Amanda Bozley, 62d Aerial Port Squadron first sergeant and friend of Danielle. “Revered as a role model and cherished as a sister within the diamond [first sergeant] community, her memory lives on through this event.”
Runners are sponsored by friends and family, who can choose to donate a lump-sum or designated amount per lap, sit-up or push-up completed.
Proceeds from the Dash for Danielle Memorial Run-A-Thon will go towards supporting military and community functions throughout the year and a donation will be made in support of domestic violence awareness.
Along with the First Sergeants Council, many on-base organizations contributed to the event, and work together every day to foster a domestic violence-free environment, ensuring the safety and well-being of service members and their families. These organizations include Sexual Assault Prevention and Response, Military and Family Life Counseling, Family Advocacy Program, Domestic Abuse and Victim Advocate, and Chapel Services.
“This event underlines the need to address challenges and demonstrates our collective commitment to a safe and supportive environment for all service members,” said Bozley.
The Family Advocacy Program has victim advocates available across JBLM for active-duty service members, their current or former spouses, those with whom they share a child in common or have lived together as intimate partners.
This program focuses on safety planning, support, information and referrals; and has services available for both restricted and unrestricted reports.
